Why Hope & Freedom
“Two words have always been important to me as I have done this work. The first word is hope. The second word is freedom.”

Like Polaris (the North Star) in the night sky, we offer constancy amid change, clarity amid confusion, and hope when the way forward feels unclear.

Hope & Freedom Counseling Services provides in-person, custom 1-5 day intensives for individuals and couples seeking breakthrough and healing.
Hope & Freedom University offers online resources and courses that support recovery and growth from anywhere in the world.
Together, these three branches form a constellation of care—distinct, but all oriented toward the same guiding truth: lasting healing happens when we walk in truth, grounded in love, and lit by hope.
OUR MISSION
To guide individuals, couples, and the clinicians who treat them toward healing and wholeness through intensive recovery experiences grounded in truth, compassion, and expert care—restoring hope, igniting purpose, and pointing each soul toward lasting freedom.

OUR CORE VALUES
A Word from Tina Wehner
Two words have always been important to me as I have done this work. The first word is hope. From your first day in recovery from sex addiction I assure you, there is hope. I want you to leave my office with a real sense of hope that life can be different. You do not have to continue being involved in incomprehensible and demoralizing behaviors.
The second word is freedom. It is possible for you to live free from the behaviors that have cheapened your life. To be sure, it is not freedom from the battle of sexually addictive behaviors. What we know about addiction is that the propensity to return to the addictive behaviors will always be present. What you can enjoy is freedom within the addiction and winning the battle every day.
I tell my clients that in their recovery journey they will be able to look at themselves in the mirror and say, “You are a good man/woman,” and know from the bottom of their hearts that those words are true. Negative self-talk that has plagued them since childhood will gradually end and be replaced with healing words that they speak to themselves. I believe recovery is an adventure. And in the end, clients have a much fuller, richer, more meaningful life than they would have had if they had never had any compulsive behaviors to conquer.
In treating compulsive sexual behavior, I am not concerned as to whether or not a man or woman will identify themselves as a “sex addict.” If you have compulsive sexual behavior in your life and are willing to work hard to eliminate it, I am willing to work with you and support you through that process.
Sexually compulsive and addictive behaviors are treatable. The question is whether or not a person is ready for treatment. Unfortunately some people seem to have the need to descend lower into addiction and experience greater losses before they are ready to seek help. In addition, those suffering from the trauma of betrayal don’t have to stay in silent suffering. There is healing available and always a choice. I am passionate about empowering partners to find healing, wholeness, and optimal health.
I use a variety of psychotherapy techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy, Emotionally Focused therapy, solution-focused therapy, task-centered therapy, and experiential therapy, as well as other approaches that may fit a given client. The focus of the psychotherapy sessions is to assist you and your family in charting a lifestyle of recovery.
In short, the intensive therapy I provide is designed to help you reclaim your life by becoming the best version of yourself, and living your life on purpose. If you are part of a couple, it is also our goal at Hope & Freedom to help you reestablish trust with your partner so you can enjoy a joyful and rewarding relationship.

A WORD FROM DR. MILTON MAGNESS, FOUNDER OF HOPE & FREEDOM
Tina is an amazing therapist. I have worked with her closely since 2012. She has been thoroughly trained in the Hope & Freedom Treatment Model. She already has a thriving practice that includes Three-Day Intensives that are identical to what I have offered in Houston and in the Canadian Rockies.
If you or your loved one is struggling to get free and stay free, Hope & Freedom has a solution for you. All problematic behavior can stop permanently, partners can heal, and trust can be restored. Our treatment program is not a “quick fix.” It takes hard work and a commitment of both partners. For those willing to do the work, we see amazing results.
