Cynthia is licensed in the states of Arizona (Licensed Professional Counselor) and Ohio (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor). She is also an experienced EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist as well as a CSAT (Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist). Cynthia’s goal is to create a confidential, safe and nurturing environment in which you can experience a healing process that will restore hope, health and vitality to your life.

Cynthia received her M.S. degree in Counseling from the University of Akron. She also became certified and worked in the state of Ohio as a School Counselor and high school teacher. She began her undergraduate work at The University of Akron completing a B.S. in Business Education. She has used her Business Education degree and her Masters in Technical Education to create training materials and trainings for management of a well-known and respected company and in facilitating therapeutic groups, intensives, and workshops.

Cynthia has worked for Remuda Ranch and The Meadows of Wickenburg, AZ, where she worked with adolescents and adults specializing in providing eating disorder as well as dual-diagnosis therapies. Cynthia has been certified in the treatment of compulsive sexual behaviors since 2008. She first started working in this field in 2002, when she became a therapist at The Meadows of Wickenburg. Cynthia has been trained by Pia Mellody and uses her model around treating codependency focusing on self-esteem boundaries, reality, dependency and moderation.

Currently, she is enjoying working with individuals and families concerning trauma, process addictions and particularly sex addiction. Cynthia is trained in the partner sensitive model to assist partners of sex addicts in their healing process. She is particularly skilled at helping others identify and resolve underlying issues contributing to their addiction or other disorder. Cynthia has been using EMDR in her work as a technique regarding many issues and particularly trauma. She views this technique as an incredible tool in resolving underlying and sometimes unconscious issues contributing to sometimes even greater issues.

Cynthia is Certified as a Hope and Freedom Practitioner, trained in The Intensive Method. She is a current and active member of the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). Cynthia has established a private practice, Open Hearts Open Minds Counseling Services, with offices in both Ohio and Arizona.
